The project was launched in Glasgow on August 1st 2014. Almost one fifth of the members of the Scottish Parliament have supported a motion supporting the launch of Flag Up Scotland Jamaica. It was brought before the house on August 18th by Margaret Mitchell MSP. Margaret Mitchell attended the launch of the project on August 1st and is convenor of the Caribbean Cross Party Group.
